What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an effective form of health care that has evolved into a complete and holistic medical system. Practitioners of acupuncture and Chinese Medicine have used this system to prevent illness, maintain health, and assist recovery from ailments for over 2,000 years.
I will place fine, sterile needles at specific points on the body. This activates the body’s Qi (pronounced “chee”), and promotes natural healing by enhancing recuperative power, immunity, and physical as well as emotional health. It can also improve overall function and well-being. It is a safe and effective way to treat a wide variety of medical conditions.
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on the duration, severity, and nature of your concern. You may need only a single treatment for an acute condition. A series of 5-10 treatments may resolve many chronic conditions. Some degenerative conditions may require many treatments over time.
How safe is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is extremely safe. It is an all-natural and drug-free therapy. There is an extremely low percentage of possible danger of infection from acupuncture needles mainly due to the fact that they are individually packaged, sterile, of single-use, and disposable. I am certified in Clean Needle Technique protocols which ensure that the needles will be inserted in the proper manner.
Do the needles hurt?
The sensation caused by an acupuncture needle varies. In some cases, you will not even know the needles are in place. There may be some tingling, warmth, heaviness, or a feeling of the Qi moving. Most people find acupuncture extremely relaxing. The needles are fine - slightly larger than a cat’s whisker or a human hair.
